Open Creamery Day at Balfour Farm

We hope you can join us for Open Creamery Day!

Maine creameries around the state will open their doors and their barns to invite the public to learn about the tradition of making cheese in Maine.

We will be following CDC guidelines, with all activities occurring outside. The Little Cheese Shop will be moving outside for the day! We will have cheeses from several other Maine creameries available, as well as grab and go themed bags/boxes with a variety of items from the store. We carry a wide variety of Maine craft foods and local beer, wine, cider and mead. If you’d like to shop ahead and pick up your order on the day of the event, click here.

We are requesting all visitors check in upon arrival and wear a mask. Hand washing and sanitizer will be available.

Visitors can see the cows that make the milk we use for cheese, the dairy barn, pigs and chickens. We will have educational displays. Talk with the farmers and cheesemakers. Taste cheese, buy cheese, eat cheese!

PARKING:

General parking is in the pasture near the greenhouse, accessed by the driveway at the bottom of the hill. LOOK for the signs to guide you.

Handicap parking is reserved at the farm house and near the barn- come up the main driveway and LOOK for the signs to guide you. Please be aware of oncoming cars and people walking to the barns.
